Nawazuddin Siddiqui SLAMS Bollywood Awards, Says Om Puri Was Better Celebrated At Oscars
National Award winning actor Nawazuddin vents out his anger on desi award functions which did not pay homage to the late Om Puri
Nawazuddin Siddiqui was among those who watched the
Oscars this morning and he noticed when the memoriam reel at the awards show
included veteran Indian actor Om Puri.
The A-list of Hollywood at the 89th Academy Awards stood
up to pay their respects to the deceased film artistes and the gesture touched
Siddiqui.

But, that sentiment turned to anger as he realised that
none of the Indian award shows had paid homage to Om Puri who passed away in
January.
@TheAcademy #Oscars paid homage 2 late #OmPuri, But in #bollywood award functions nobody converse single word for his contribution... SHAME

Siddiqui said, "@TheAcademy #Oscars paid homage 2
late #OmPuri, But in #bollywood award functions nobody converse single word for
his contribution... SHAME."
While a few award functions had been held last December,
much before the death of Om Puri on January 6, but the biggest of them
all, Filmfare Awards were held on January 14.
If we recall, a few weeks back Sushant Singh Rajput had
also slammed the Indian award functions saying that 'they celebrate
mediocrity'.
There have been many B-Townies who have denounced
Bollywood awards for the same reason. Actors like Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn and
Akshay Kumar are rarely seen at award function.
Nawazuddin himself has enough trophies on his shelves.
From the National Award that he won in 2013 for his work in Kahaani, Gangs Of
Wasseypur, Talaash and Dekh Indian Circus to the Filmfare award he won for The
Lunchbox, he has got plenty of trophies.
